Call for proposals to host HWID 2024

IFIP TC 13 Working Group 6 on Human Work Interaction Design has been founded in 2005 and since then has organized a working conference every 3 years. This is a call for proposals to host the 7th working conference, HWID 2024.

Up to now, six editions of HWID working conferences have been organized. The first one was in 2006, in Portugal and the theme was designing for human work. In 2009 it was held in India and it was focused on usability in social, cultural and organizational context. The third edition was in 2012 in Copenhagen and its theme was work analysis and HCI. 2015’s edition was organized in London and was focused on work analysis and interaction design methods for pervasive and smart workplaces. Espoo hosted the 2018’s edition that was about designing engaging automation. This year’s edition (2021) was hosted in Beijing but was held in a hybrid setting and the theme was artificial intelligence and designing for positive work experiences in low desire society.

The proposals must be submitted in PDF format and should follow this structure:

  • Hosting organization: information about the institution(s) that will host the conference.
  • Venue: details about the facilities, hotels, and travel information. Please provide information for all possible settings: onsite-only, remote-only, and hybrid. In case of onsite-only and hybrid, please provide some information about potential social program.
  • Dates: to be decided considering when the other major competitive events will be held.
  • Preliminary budget: please consider that being this an IFIP event, out of each registration €15 per person will be collected by IFIP itself.
  • Preliminary Committee: at least the General Chair(s) and Program Chair(s).
  • Theme of the HWID 2024 edition.

The deadline for proposal submission is October 31st, 2021.

The decision will be made by the IFIP WG13.6 Officers team and the notifications will be sent to the applicants before the end of November 2021 and will be made official through the working group mailing list. The IFIP WG13.6 Officers team will work with and support the hosts of HWID 2024.
